Such was the view of William Coady, attendant to the insane in the British settler colony of Victo.

This is a very detailed look at asylum attendants in colonial Victoria, focussing on the 1850s through to the early 1880s. It contains a good amount of information, largely garnered from public records from the time, but suffers a little from repetition and is rather dry.
